09/19/16: What’s new, Part 1

Grab a calendar, mark this date: Thursday, October 13, 4-7 p.m. We’re hosting an Oink Pigments Pop-up Shop/Trunk Show at GYI.

Meet “Pigmentologist” Helena Bristow and her bright and playful hand-dyed yarns and fibers, all 100% American-made, from sheep to shelf.

Many of you admired the beautiful 7-skein set of Oink Pigments Sport yarn that was our Campfire Grand Prize at camp this year. There will be more yarns like them for sale, plus the full range of Oink yarn bases and dyeing styles.

More big news: the shop will be open most Sundays this fall, 12-4, through November 20 (but not October 2 or October 30). Sundays are a great day to shop leisurely and really see everything. We hope you can also join us at the work table for some relaxing Sunday stitching.

New yarns in the spotlight in the last post were Rios worsted and Caracol super-bulky from Malabrigo and fingering/sock weight Alegria from Manos del Uruguay. (That’s Rios, above, knit up by Bonnie into Olga Buraya Kefelian’s Nobi Nobi hat.)

Now we have even more new yarns to love: SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock in 20 colors, a major re-stocking of madelinetosh Tosh DK, and Woolstok, Blue Sky Fibers‘ newest yarn.

Woolstok is a soft and lofty worsted yarn, spun from premium Peruvian Highland wool. Blue Sky also created a spectacular pattern collection to showcase their newest yarn. We have both the patterns and all 21 colors of Woolstok in stock.

SweetGeorgia’s Tough Love Sock is the yarn we would make if we could create the perfect sock yarn. Purchase a skein in September and get either the Cherry Lane Socks or Rushing Tide Shawl pattern from SweetGeorgia creator Felicia Lo for half price.

And what do we need to say about Tosh DK?

If you were to start cataloging perfect yarns, madelinetosh yarns will always make the top 10 list. We’ve been waiting for this shipment since May. It’s finally here but won’t last long. Need ideas for your fall stitching projects? Just ask!
