After a long, hard winter, it’s finally – finally – time for Camp GYI, now in its third season. Let the fun & games begin!
Camp GYI is “virtual camp” – absolutely no bug bites or sunburn – just plenty of encouragement to start and finish a project within a month, save 20% on your project yarn, and chances to win GYI gift cards and prizes.
Will you come for day camp or sleepaway camp? This year you can select your own 350+ yard project each month to knit, weave, or crochet (day camp) OR join a monthly knit-along (KAL) and work along with others on the same knitting project (sleepaway camp).
We’re very excited to welcome Tina Woodward, Shelly Strohl, and Carolyn Kern as Guest Counselors this summer. Each has chosen a KAL project and will host a kick-off at the start of “her” month at the shop. Tina, Shelly, and Carolyn will also moderate their own KAL discussion threads in our GYI group on Ravelry. First up, Tina’s pick for June is Bonnie Sennott’s beautiful Silverleaf shawl, below, for either fingering or lace weight yarn.
(Tina’s yarn for her Silverleaf is the “Camp GYI 2014” colorway in Merino Silk Sock dyed exclusively for us by Carol Sulcoski of Black Bunny Fibers, one of last year’s camp prizes.)
So are you ready to join us around the campfire for another summer of stitching fun? We’re even planning camp outings around the Wyoming Valley and a game night! Call or visit us to register and shop for all your camping needs. For complete rules, click here to be redirected to our Ravelry Group camp FAQ page.
Mark your calendar: camp store and registration opens May 15. Camp starts June 1. We can’t wait to see you at Camp GYI!
